Long, long ago, the people of the earth all spoke one language, and had one speech. They began to travel from the east and reached a plain that they named Shi’nar. There, they began to make brick from stone and bake them. They used slime for mortar and began to create a tremendous tower. They said among themselves, "We will create a great, great tower, whose top may reach unto heaven so we will not become scattered all across the earth."

Almighty God, our Lord, came down to see the great tower that man was building. Could they have been building this tower to protect themselves if another flood would come, like the one in Noah’s day or were the people just trying to become as God, and go uninvited to heaven?

God became very angry with man because of this thing that he was doing, trying to build a tower to heaven. So God said, "Behold, the people is one and they have all one language; and this they began to do: and now, nothing will be restrained from them, which they may imagine to do." So, God came down and mixed up their language that they could no longer understand one another’s speech.

So, the Lord scattered them abroad when he mixed up their language. New language societies began as the people searched for someone that could speak their language. The people then left off building the city. Because of this, the Lord called this place Ba’bel and scattered the people over all the face of the earth.

We should always obey our parents as this is God’s will. He blesses us to have godly parents that lead us in our daily walk.  Pray for your parents and family that they will continue to follow the Lord in all that they say and do.
